Thousands invited to register for Public Panel for Independent Commission on Adult Social Care
Baroness Louise Casey's Independent Commission on adult social care is inviting people to join Public Panels as part of the Big Conversation on Care
People across England are being invited to register for the Public Panel on Care, giving members of the public the chance to help shape the future of adult social care.
From Monday 21 September, thousands of households across England will begin receiving letters inviting people aged 18 and over to register their interest in joining.
The Panel is part of the Big Conversation on Care, being run by the Independent Commission on Adult Social Care, chaired by Baroness Louise Casey of Blackstock.
Around 125 people will ultimately be selected to take part, bringing together people from different backgrounds and communities across England. Letters are being sent to addresses selected at random, and anyone aged 18 or over living at an invited address can register. No more than one person will ultimately be selected from each household.
The Public Panel on Care will hear different perspectives and views, learn about the issues at the heart of adult social care reform, weigh trade offs and ultimately work together to find common ground on important questions: What is care? Who should receive it? And who should pay for what?
People do not need to have any previous experience or knowledge of adult social care to take part.
The Public Panel will meet in person over several weekends between November 2026 and April 2027 in Birmingham and London as well as convening for shorter online sessions.
People who receive a letter can register by Sunday 11 October using the details provided in their invitation.
